1. Early planning

2. Declutter and clean out

3. Choose transport
Consider whether you need a rental van or a removal company.
For short distances, a van may be sufficient. The cost of hiring a van starts at EUR 35.00. Professionals are often helpful for larger moves.
4. Compare moving companies
Research local moving companies in Berlin, read customer reviews and get multiple quotes to find the best prices and services.

To get the appointment that suits you best, try to contact us a month in advance, but we may still have an appointment available the day before.

5. Calculate moving costs
Consider all possible costs, including rent of a van, packing material and possibly storage fees.
6. Packing materials
Organize moving boxes and packing materials (e.g. bubble wrap, blankets, packing paper, zip-lock bags) in advance. Many supermarkets offer free packing material.
Transport companies usually have this in their product range.
7. Change of address
Don't forget to report your move to the relevant authorities, banks and service providers a few weeks before the date of the change of address.
8. Involve friends and family
Offer to help friends and family with the move. This not only provides support, but can also be fun!
9. Plan moving day
Moving day doesn't have to be depressing, provided it is well planned or the team is well set up on stage.

Remember to register with your internet provider before you move in order to have a fast internet connection in your new home.
11. Take meter readings
Make a note of the meter readings for electricity, water and gas at your old place of residence and report them to the relevant providers.
12. Quick access to essential items
Pack an “important” box with personal items (e.g. ID, medication, cell phone charger) that you will need immediately after the move.
13. Before the first night
Make sure you have the most important things such as bedding and toiletries to hand for the first night.
